Requirements

What are the requirements to be a cadet?

Civil Air Patrol Cadets represent the best of the best.  To become a Civil Air Patrol cadet, you must:

  • Be at least 12 years old and not yet 19.

  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (waivers available)

  • Be willing to attend most Thursday evening training meetings at the Concord Armory

  • Be willing to properly wear Air Force uniforms with CAP cadet insignia, including adhering to the Air Force’s standards for haircuts and shaving.

  • Pay annual dues of $38, plus a one-time uniform accessory fee of about $65.

How do I join?

Your first step to putting on the uniform and becoming a cadet is to visit our squadron during our Spring or Fall Open House.  We bring new cadets into the unit twice a year following our Unit Open House and Recruiting Nights.  If you're looking to get an inside look at cadet life outside of our Open House dates, join us at one of our Thursday night meetings.  Contact our squadron to schedule a visit and for more information.
